I'm 18 so I have no bills I work at my dads restaurant so I make a good income for a 18 year old anyway and I also make tips so my bills are just gas, iPhone data plan and tutoring for physics. So I have roughly $1500 on my bank account and $490 in cash and I keep about 25$ in my wallet is that good? Any tips or advice?|||Save as much as you can as you will need it for a deposit for a flat or home later on.
$25 sounds about right to me. If your wallet is stolen or you lose it then, you won't miss $25 as much as you would miss $100.|||Just saying, that if you have $490 in cash (including the 25) that is way too much to have on you. Unless you are going to be spending that 490 soon, it's not wise to have so much on you since it can collect interest on that money in the bank.
Question though... do you use a debit/credit card. If so, then twenty-five dollars would be alright. Also if you are okay with charging business an extra fee to process your debit/credit card making it more likely for them to go out of business, then keep using that debit/credit card.
If you do not use a debit/credit card, (like me) I carry about $60 in my wallet at a time. I also normally just pay gas and any other small expenses. I just consider it a good amount of emergency money. And its a lot better to lose 60 dollars, then to loose your identity through credit or debit card theft. Even though you can cancel these cards, I think it is rather an idea of safe then sorry. Remember you don't have to physically lose the card to lose your identity or even your credit/debit card numbers. At ATMs there are scanners that will swipe the card as it is swiped into the ATM and cameras and/or touchpad over the keypad recording the numbers put into the ATM. At restaurants there are unethical waitress/waiter who will have a card swiper on them. All they do is swipe the card into a mini computer-like device and they have your credit/debit numbers and all the information that goes along with it. There are identity theives all over the place... would you like to be a victim?
Also only a male fool can loose their wallet. Just have it on you at all times.|||Don't carry any more in your wallet than you would not mind losing. Also, if you are the type who has an urge to spend money then keeping a large amount in your wallet is not a good idea. Your $25 is pretty good. It can cover enough gas to get by food or whatever.
One thing that is interesting though, I have seen a few different movies where some guy says "Here is all of the money I have in my wallet". Most of the time, in the movies that is, that amount of money comes to $300. It is weird. I have noticed that in a few movies.|||try having ZERO cash. Keep a PEN and notepad in the other pocket. As soon as you will find yourself that you need cash but you have no cash, write down what you needed to have in your pocket.
Do that for 30 days. At the end of 30 days, add all the sums you have written and then divide the amount by 30.
That's how much you are likely to need in cash each day.|||First whenever you get paid, put something away into a savings account. At your ago, $25 is fine. If you run short and have a debit card, you can always use that. Don't be in a hurry to get a credit card because that's what gets everybody in trouble.|||less money in your wallet is always good. cash cannot be replaced unless you earn more. the money in your bank accounts and debit.credit cards is insured.|||Never carry more money than you can afford to lose.|||thats right.25$ is enough for you.
