How much cash should i bring on my trip to the Philippines?

I am planning on going on a trip to the Philippines, and I am wondering how much extra cash I should bring. My trip will be 13 nights, and I think that $100 a day should suffice, also I am not planning on renting a car.

Also on Orbitz, you can book hotels and flights together. SHould I just pay for the Plane ticket and finid a decent hotel to stay at?

People with personal experience with this please answer. Thanks for taking the time to do this.|||that is enough|||Hi,

I think 100 per day should suffice, but don't bring too much money with you. I totally agree with the above poster, use your ATM. When using ATM don't do it at night time. It is okay to do it at night ONLY, when you are inside the 5 stars hotel.

During night time, only take the cab parked in front of your hotel. At least the dispatchers knows these drivers. If possible, tell the same driver to wait for you, or come back for you at a later time.

Be always respectful, and try getting a good tan, or maybe darken your hair a little bit, so that women will like you even better ( Darker hair, and tan skin makes you like the mestizos).

For the best hotel rate, try searching this on google "american living in the philippines". On the search results, click on any of the blog and send questions to the blog owner. They have more knowledge as to what are the prevailing rates at this time of the year.

Good luck and have fun. Don't forget to bring your insect bites first aid. Just in case you are allergy to mosquitoes.|||dont book the hotel with the flight. you will find cheaper and probably better hotels once you arrive. also, dont let the taxi guy recommend a hotel. he is just looking for a kickback from the hotel.

once you arrive you will see that not renting a car is a very wise decision.

you should be able to stay under $100 a day including a hotel depending on your spending habits.

bring as much as you wish to spend on your vacation and not more. in the end it will all be gone, most likely.|||nothing fancy but comfortable and decent enough, then one hundred dollars per day would be sufficient. a fairly good hotel(not five star though) would cost around 40 dollars a day. food is cheap unless you need to feed the whole barangay. plane tickets from the united states to manila are quite inexpensive nowadays(thanks to ah1n1?).|||yes $100 is enough. thats about 4600 pesos. to me its better to book the hotel. i know a good website. they will find you a hotel, you can chat with them to if you dont want to pay long distance call. its Travelph.com. you can trust them i have a good experience with them. my husband and i got married their and we only pay $100 anight for 5start hotel. including buffet breakfast. its pretty good. check the website. goodluck.|||That's what I am planning to spend when we go there end of June. But that is for me, my wife %26amp; small boy.

My wife does have family over there %26amp; will be sharing our expenses and we will be living in a rent-free condo if not in the guest rooms of relatives %26amp; friends, so we are expecting to spend the $100 a day in food %26amp; possibly small purchases. Car would be free as well.|||I am going there in August and I booked my trip on travelocity, they had the best deals, and search for a promo code I used ts0ffers75 and it saved me $75, which more than covered my upgrade to a premier suite, I figured $2000 for a week would be enough, but if not then I can hit the ATM, I think it also depends on which part your staying, I have read that Manilla is a little higher because there are more tourists so they know they can, but you will get some good answers on here, the people are very helpful!|||A $100 a day is plenty. Don't book over internet as its more expensive. There are so many places to stay here that are under $20 a day w/ air-con. Manila a little more. And don't act like a tourist as you will be taken advantage off. Remember you are in a very poor country so be smart. Happy and safe travels.|||not much. it'll be stolen anyway. but its nice to have some to pay your way around. as my korean boss would say about the country - "philippines, very good. all illegal".|||Don’t bring more than four or five twenties cash with you. Use your ATM card in Philippines. DO NOT TAKE LARGE AMOUNTS OF CASH TO PHILIPPINES. Check with your bank that the card you have will work in RP. Also inform your bank that you will be using the ATM and any Credit cards in the Philippines.

Not sure what area you will visit plan ahead to see that location has an ATM machine. Do not plan on using the ATM on Friday or over the weekend as often they are out of money.

If you will be spending time in Metro Manila or Cebu City plan on more than $100.00 a day. Budget ~$100.00 as an average spending nice hotels. If you have a Girl friend let her be the one to buy items. If you show your face the price will be somewhat higher.

Do not buy airline tickets online. You can do much better using a consolidator ticket agent. Google “consolidator ticket agent” Do this from any large US city and figure ~$1100.00 high season ~$800.00 low season. Typical savings from online prices ~$200-$400.

Take sunscreen and drink lots of bottled water. Please be respectful and you will have a great time!
