Is it necessary to have cash while travelling overseas?

I'm planning on traveling to Canada for a month and taking a debit card with me. I'm staying with family, so accomadation and food isn't relevant.





I've been told that I must have cash at the airport to show I can support myself while overseas. How true is this? If it's the case, what's the minimum I could take?|||of course you will need cash....the taxi/bus from the airport won't take a debit card. i would say the minimum cash you should take is 拢200 with more in your bank to use with your Card. and..what will you do if you lose your card?? take some cash - you will need it!
